  1. Hi Demi Ann
I like your cute smiling photograph in the picture which is shared by you. I am coming from India where all government school where the education is free for all there English language started at 6th grade level so assume how difficult for me to reach here and get education from The Worlds Highest Rank Country USA. It is possible just because of my Mother MRS. Prem Lata she did her job very well. School played an excellent role in my life. I have achieved my Masters Degree in India but start graduation here to learn more so that in future i will stand up with proud that I will speak, write, understand English. now, education and friends such like you help me to do something great. Thanks dear

  2. Demi,
You point out some important points from this section-- how the schools were funded, and the importance of family wealth in the early years of the US to be able to access formal education.
School governance is another area you address. All these areas are still important today, although times and schools have changed. As you point out, our state now requires a minimum of 180 days of school per year.

I love that you included your Head Start picture (how cute!) from your first experience in school. We'll be reading in section 3 about the passage of bills that created Head Start as a federally funded educational program in the mid-1960's.

I agree entirely with you that children are fortunate to have access to free, high quality, public education!
